You know, when you're a little kid and you try to picture what eternity is, well, you just can't do it.

This is Nancy DeMoss-Walkalmouth.

You can't get it. And in fact, not just when you're a little kid, when you're a big person.

It's hard to fathom the meaning of forever, the meaning of eternity.

And I can remember when I was a child that my dad told us,

an illustration came out of a book by Hendrick Van Loon where he talked about a rock that was

100 miles wide and 100 miles high. And he said that once every thousand years, a little bird

would come and sharpen his beak on that rock.

And Van Loon said that when that rock, 100 miles wide, 100 miles high, once every thousand years, the bird is sharpening his beak, he said, when that rock had been worn down to the ground, then one day in eternity would have passed.

Today, Nancy begins the discussion with that image of the giant rock being worn down by the

little bird.

And I remember hearing that as a little girl, and that kind of just expanded my concept of

eternity.

Now, we know that eternity has nothing to do with time, thousand years, or days, but it was a picture that was helpful to me as a child.
