Nancy DeMoss Walgamuth has some thoughts on the famous prayer,

Deliver us from the evil one.

Do you really want to be protected from the evil one?

Or do you want to be permitted to keep one foot in the world?

We say we don't want to sin,

but is there a part of us that wants to have permission to toy with sin, to taste it,

to touch it, to get close to it, to cuddle up to it? Do you want to be completely delivered

from sin? Is that what you mean when you pray this prayer?
