Last week I made the case that Hebrews is like a land that has broad valleys of doctrinal foundation and motivation and growing up or sticking up out of those valleys are peaks of practical exhortation,

love, holiness, peace, righteousness, run the race, stand strong, hold fast, and that the relationship between those two is that the peaks,

building your life on a hills so that men may see your good deeds and give glory to your Father

in heaven, are founded on those valleys of doctrinal, God exalting motivation and foundation,

which are issuing out into promises usually.

So promises and all the theological foundation of promises like the death of Jesus for sinners like us so that God can give promises to us and not be unjust or naive,

that theological foundation in the cross and the resurrection and those promises that make the broad valleys of this book

are the rising up of the peaks of exhortation.
