Happy holiday season. We are officially in

2026. That is hard to believe. I literally was thinking the other night of being, I think I was in church.

New Year's Eve, 1999, right before, I guess, what used to be called Y2K, except young people

don't have any idea what we were talking about.

All the threats of ATMs not working and everything going, you know, kaput would just say wouldn't go with kaput since my wife and mom listened to this

occasionally none of which happened by the way everything was fine but it's really hard to

believe that was a quarter century ago even longer that, 1980, that seems like a lifetime ago, I had not even met my

wife Terry by then.

I had seen her, and that was enough for me to be hooked for life, but she did not know

that I was alive, not yet, not then, at least.

And if I make it to heaven, it will be because of her.

She was the reason that most of us went to church, most of us young men, went to church.

I think I was 15 years old, old enough to follow what was happening in the

world, but not really old enough to process it. I remember reading about an American attempt

to rescue our hostages in Iran. And the cause was noble, rescuing Americans taken hostage by a theocratic despot.

The plan was complicated, and it went awry.

It was a combination of weather and chaos.
