Summary
On episode 109 of Native Land Pod, hosts Tiffany Cross, Angela Rye, Andrew Gillum, and Bakari Sellers discuss Jasmine Crockett’s campaign launch, and bring on one of our favorite guests: Elie Mystal.
Racial profiling, birthright citizenship, executive power, and campaign finance are all up for judgement by the US Supreme Court. There’s no one better to walk us through SCOTUS’s recent and upcoming decisions than the Justice Correspondent for The Nation, Elie Mystal.

Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett (TX 30) is running for senate in Texas in 2026. There’s a lot of chatter out there about her announcement, that she’s a Republican plant, that she can’t win–and it’s true that it’s tough for a Dem to win a senate seat in Texas. Our hosts take a critical look at the media coverage of her announcement and speculate on a possible path to victory.
We’ll get to more of your questions this week, including one about legacy media’s complicity in the Trump administration's agenda. A lot of y’all had smoke for Tiffany in the questions this week, we’ll get to those in our MiniPod.

Well, I want to get into the same thing I get into every week, Angela. So, you know, I want to hear from the viewers. And we have a lot of questions. So that's my thing for this week. What y'all got? |
| 0:55.0 | It's been a big week for Wednesday. Uh-oh. Sorry, Angie. No, no, no. No, no. I didn't want to interrupt. But I wasn't feeling well in the middle of the night and took some medicine. And I took the drowsy version. So if I seem a little slower today, I just want you to bear with me. I felt like that disclosure was necessary. |
| 0:56.8 | I'm glad that disclosure was necessary. |
| 0:56.8 | I'm glad because I was hoping you weren't drinking on the clock. |

| 1:06.4 | I don't drink on or off any clock. |
| 1:08.3 | I know you don't, but that's why I was so concerned, because I thought |
| 1:11.2 | somebody had put something, you know, in your, in your hot tea, gave you a hot toddy instead. |
| 1:17.3 | You didn't even ask for it. Well, here's the thing. It has not been a big day for Andrew. |
| 1:22.2 | It's actually a slow day, not by design, but it's been a big week for women. So I want to talk about two in particular. |
| 1:29.8 | Shout out to Asia Wilson, who is the time athlete of the year. |
| 1:33.5 | Hopefully we'll talk about that just a little bit. |
| 1:35.0 | And also, Jasmine Crockett has finally announced that she's going to run for a Senate seat in Texas going against incumbent John Corny. |
| 1:42.7 | So I definitely want to talk about that. What else y'all think? God damn, did y'all not do the hard work? It's Bakari. Like, I'm waiting to hear from Bakari, and Bakari in the camera like this. Frozen. Again. I don't know why I'm frozen. I'm just in here talking. What can you talk? You're going to talk about. |
| 2:18.1 | What do you want to talk about? Listen, we're going to talk about the Wi-Fi in Columbia, South Carolina. How about we talk about that? Broadband. It is the issue. It's the issue du jour of the day. I don't know. I mean, there's so much there there's so much to talk about. I actually appreciated Angela's topic about Asia Wilson coming from South Carolina. So I'm going to chime |
| 2:23.0 | on that with y'all because I think that she deserves a lot of props for the weight that she |
