Congratulations to the 205 graduating class of Lone Star.

Hi! How y'all feel it out there?

That's right, y'all. You made it!

This part of your life's journey is one. You all should be proud of this accomplishment. Yes!

It was almost a decade ago that I was sitting right here on this hot football stadium,

sweating underneath a polyester navy blue gown, eagerly waiting for the part when we get to the diplomas.

Because the faster we get to the declaration of graduation,

the faster we can toss our tassels and throw our caps into the sky. And then, of course,

the quicker you can get to that graduation lunch too. Texas style, big, hearty, slow cooked and

barbecued. I know that's right.

I know y'all stomachs are growling because who really had the appetite to eat breakfast on one of the biggest days of their life?

Me! Good for you, buddy!

But you know what? You all accomplished four whole years of what I know wasn't easy to do.

Yes!

Some of you excelled academically and made every honor list there was.

Love it, baby!

Or maybe for some of you, it was challenging to grasp every lesson, but you showed up for tutoring hours.

And maybe some of you are more artistic and know how to think outside the box.

And we all know how much the teachers at Lone Star High appreciate a little creativity anyway.

It shows charisma, right, Miss Penny? That's why you always had us show our work for all the problem-solving portions on your algebra exams.

Because it doesn't matter how you got there, what matters is that you eventually get it right.
