What these individual reports reveal is just how much discretion law enforcement has while policing the border.

And under the Trump administration's recent policy changes, these powers have expanded even more.

Human rights groups have complained for months that border agents are wrongfully turning away people seeking asylum in the US.

The Trump administration began hearings Monday in makeshift tent courthouses in South Texas.
