Hello everyone, you're listening to the Earful Tower and hello, what's that?

It's the end of lockdown, or at least it's the end of the first stage of lockdown.

What that means, I'll give you the quick description of what that means before we get into

today's podcast episode with the Mayor of the Marais.

What it means is we are allowed to

leave the house without a permission slip. If you haven't been paying attention, until now, you had to

sign a permission slip saying, I swear on my honor that I'm not going to go more than one kilometer

from my house, whether it's for exercise, going to the shops or going to

the pharmacy. Now we don't need any papers. We don't need any app. We can go as far as we want

as long as it's within 100 kilometers of our home. There are a few things that are still the same.

The cafes and restaurants aren't open for customers. They're typically doing takeaway,

but life will change a lot for the individual

people. And that's off today from Monday. So I plan on going for a bit of an explore today while

respecting social distancing, of course, but today you're going to hear a pretty interesting

episode. I recorded it on Zoom with Ariel Vale, Monsieur Le Maire, and we talked about what next? We talked about

what's going to happen for people. We talked about how, especially the Marais, where he's the

mayor, we talked about how that's going to change as we sort of come out of this deconfinement,

more bike lanes, closing down roads, things like that. We talked about the lockdown, how he's

been going through it, how Parisians have been acting. But we also talk about how the mayoral

elections in Paris changed. You see, the lockdown happened right in the middle of their two

stages of voting for Paris mayors. And just so you know, the way it works in Paris is every district

has a mayor. So, Ariel is the mayor of the fourth district, which is the Marais. And then one
