After a series of bodies turned up mutilated in Chicago in the 1940s, police were horrified to see that at one of the crime scenes, a message had been left behind in lipstick, potentially from the killer.

Eventually, someone went to jail for this crime, but to this day, most people don't think it was the actual guy.
