This episode takes us behind the scenes of director John Favreau's new musical feature,

The Lion King.

A photorealistic remake of the 1994 animated film, the film follows Lion Prince Simba,

the son of King Mufasa of Pride Rock. When Mufasa's death at the hands of his brother's Scar results in Simba's exile and Scar's ascension to the throne,

Simba must make new friends, grow up, and battle Scar to take back what is rightfully his.

In addition to the Lion King, Mr. Favro's directorial credits include the feature films The Jungle Book, Elf, Sathura, a Space Adventure, Iron Man, and Chef, the movies for television smog, bad cop, and life on parole, and the pilots for the series in case of emergency, revolution, and about a boy.

Mr. Favro also serves as the third vice president of the DGA.

Following a recent screening of the film at the Harmony Gold Theater in Los Angeles,

Mr. Favro spoke with director Sam Ramey about filming The Lion King.

During their conversation, Mr. Favro discusses making the film

in what he describes as a multiplayer VR filmmaking game, working with actors amidst the stress

of a highly technical film, and keeping an element of human imperfection within a digital

realm.
