You remember some time ago, in an episode of the Will Came Podcast, we talked about refinement culture.

Refinement culture was the idea that over time, everything becomes monotonously the same.

From sports to architecture, no diversity.

The proponent of that theory refinement culture is a man who goes by the handle Lindy Man.

His name is Paul Scalis.

Paul is someone who has forwarded the idea of the Lindy effect.

The Lindy effect is in essence that you can give value or you can make a prediction about the staying power of something based upon how long it's been around.

If something's been around for five years, you can expect it to last another five years.

If something's been around for 500 years, you can expect it to last another 500 years.

It's sort of giving you the value of tradition and wisdom.

I find this imminently fascinating.
