The Dar Lillie Lidd was born on May 10th, 1962 in Bergen, Norway.

In 1985, he packed up everything he owned to chase the American Dream in Miami, Florida.

Four years later, he met Delphina Zalea whose family had emigrated from Honduras.

Within a year of meeting, the couple were married with a baby on the way.

Tabitha was born in 1990 and their son Peter was born five years later in 1995.

By then, the family had moved to the quiet streets of rural Tennessee in the hopes that their children would live a life free of the crime that permeated Miami.

For a while, that's exactly what happened. Life for the Lillie Liddidd family was everything they hoped it would be.

At least it was, until the family crossed paths with six monsters.

Vodar worked as a doorman at the local Holiday Inn while Delphina homeschooled Tabitha and raised Peter.

They didn't have much money, but there was always food on the table and they never complained.

The family were devoted followers of the

Jehovah's Witness faith and they volunteered to help in church activities whenever they

could. On Sunday, April 6th, 1997, Vidar, Delphina, and their two kids were returning to

their home in Knoxville from a church event in Johnson City. The trip was 107 miles or 170 kilometers and was set to take around

one and a half to two hours. Due to their limited funds, the family decided not to go out for lunch at a restaurant

with the rest of the congregation, and instead they packed a picnic which they intended to enjoy

on their drive home.

It was a warm spring day and despite the kids being tired from their long trip,

the atmosphere inside the car was upbeat.

Midway through the drive, they pulled into a rest stop off Interstate 81 in Green County.

The kids needed to go to the bathroom and it was the perfect opportunity to stretch their legs
