The life you're jealous of would exhaust you.

I said this to a friend of mine recently,

when she was basically saying all these things that she

likes about other people's lives. One woman had four kids. One woman had this home in the mountains.

One other woman had this pretty successful side hustling that was to do with like interior

design. I didn't quite understand it. It was interior design and AI. And my friend

just kept listing all these things that she thought was really cool that other people were doing and

having and experiencing. And I was like, you know what? That life or a combination of blend of

those lives, it would exhaust you. I mean, let's break this down and think about it for a second. Envy is great data in this way,

but those things that we secretly covet, what she has, what she's doing, what he's up to over there,

it would crush us. We don't want the responsibility, the energy, the dedication, the commitment, the late

nights, the, I mean, there's so much I could list here. We don't want what accompanies

so much of those perceived dreams that we see out there. So what is it that we really want? I can guarantee you this. You want the

feeling that you think that person has, right? And we want to untangle fantasy from just pure facts here.

Maybe if you see something being wildly successful, you think, wow, they must feel

so accomplished and alive and free and creative. If you see someone with a gorgeous family life,

you think, gosh, that person's probably never lonely. They feel so held and taken care of and seen

and comforted. But remember this, whether you're paying attention to social media or

even just the real lives of other people, you are not seeing the price tag that comes with

every single decision that we make. So someone might have a luxurious life, but they've got a lot
