That's because I'm introducing an episode that I recently recorded with our friends,

Moira Donigan and Adrian Daube, at the In Bed with the Right podcast.

That episode was about none other than Roy Cohn. Many of our listeners, I'm

sure, will know something about Roy Cohn. He's having a bit of a moment lately because he was

the former lawyer and mentor to current president of the United States Donald Trump

and bears a fair amount of responsibility, I think, for just how terrible a person Donald Trump turned out to be, especially in his public dealings and how he deals with controversies and legal problems, you might say.

But, of course, Roy Cohn is someone who has participated in a number of events that bear on the topics and themes of this podcast. He was

instrumental in the prosecution and execution of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg. Of course, Roy Cohn

also was the right-hand man to Senator Joe McCarthy during the Red Scare, really one of the

driving forces behind the persecution of both communists and homosexuals by the

United States government. So Roy Cohn is someone who his presence is shot through the history

of the right. And there will be cameos from many of the characters in the extended,

Know Your Enemy universe who make an appearance as we unfold the story of Roy Cohn. Now, I want to

say one other thing about the episode you're about to hear, you might not be surprised to learn that

once we started recording about Roy Cone, this figure who, I think all of us, me and Moira and

Adrian became kind of fascinated by, It couldn't be contained in just one
