Hey, this is Beth. Listen, what we live for at Living Proof is to serve people the Word

of God. We base our ministry on Hebrews 4-12 that tells us that the Word is alive and

active. We pray this message is going to serve you in some way today and that God is

going to speak through it. Thank you so much for giving us this privilege.

Would you turn with me to numbers the second chapter. We have quite a topical study

before us this morning as we continue our series on the priesthood. And so we're going

to be all over the place this morning because we are going to search out this division,

this people called the Levites. You've seen the phrase before if you've been in church

for very long, the priests and the Levites. If you've studied the Old Testament, you've

seen those two names. You know they go together, but you do not know perhaps what makes them

distinct. That's what you and I want to learn this morning. So with numbers chapter 2,

I only want to look at a couple of verses. We're going to look in a number of places, segments

of verses so that we can study who this group of people is that we're calling the Levites

in their association with the priests. Who are the Levites and what differentiates them

from the priests? I want to read to you numbers 2, 1 and 2. It says the Lord said to Moses

and Aaron, the Israelites are to camp around the tent of meeting some distance from it,

each man under his standard with the banners of his family. What it tells us in the verses

that follow is that each tribe, how many tribes were there? 12 tribes, each of the 12

tribes were to camp around the sanctuary, the tent of meeting or the tabernacle. It was

transportable through the wilderness and all these tribes were to have very specific places

and positions around the tabernacle as they moved through the desert. Now we've already

talked about it, that Eastgate, that one entrance in was the tribe of who? The tribe of Judah.
