Ray, have you ever worked with or for someone who, you know, isn't very bright?

I can't think of a few dozen people I've worked with over the years who fall into that category.

Okay, how about someone so incompetent that they continue to get promotions and raises?

And maybe that's just to keep them away from the work that actually needs to get done, you know?

Yeah, I know the type. I've been in meetings where they try to keep some senior executives out of the room so they don't mess anything up. I do the work and they get all the credit and the raises. Yeah, no, I've been there too, for sure. And then we scratch our heads and I guess we meet at the bar to commiserate. At least we have the bar to drown our sorrows, though.

At least we have that.

So today, we're going to head to Newburyport, Massachusetts,

to visit the former home of Lord Timothy Dexter.

Now, in 1802, he published a book you've never heard of,

called A Pickle for the Knowing Ones.

But more importantly, he's an idiot of a man who continued to fail upward.
