Hello there I'm Chuck Todd and this is the Chuck Todd cast so it is official we have the

decision on Roe v Wade and as what was expected from the leak dependent in May the court

has indeed overturned Roe and Casey the Planned Parenthood striking down a protected right

for women to abortion.

The case now known as dobs versus Jackson and its health will functionally remove a right

for more than half the population something unheard of in American history cannot come

up with another time the Supreme Court is ever taking a right away we are used to the

Supreme Court over time enumerating rights not taking them away so to help us understand

the legal implications of these changes how it could ripple across law I guess today

is Mary Ziegler she's a professor the University of California Davis School of Law and the

author of several books about reproductive rights and politics and look we're going to

do political fallout to this podcast but the legal fallout and the immediacy of this

people's lives are at stake so we want to have that conversation first professor Ziegler
