It's Friday, June 5th.

Today the double standard of riots in America, and what it's like to be in a nursing home

during the pandemic.

I think we have paid way more attention to the destruction that comes with the riot

than we have the violence that comes with police brutality.

So when we think about the civil rights movement, we want to talk about nonviolence, we want

to talk about, you know, peaceful protest.

What we don't want to talk about is the fact that a 14 year old boy was lynched and murdered.

We don't want to talk about the fact that four little girls were bombed in a church

where they were preparing for service.

We don't want to talk about the fact that mega-ever's, Martin Fikinger, Malcolm X, were all

assassinated.

We don't want to talk about the violence that people are responding to.

You know, the civil rights movement, we say it's about nonviolence, but I say no.

It is about a response to violence, the violence that black Americans were experiencing

every day in their lives.

So I think there needs to be much more honesty about how we look back at the past and decipher
