The Michael Vary Show is on the air. When you think back, many of you have the perspective to

2020, many of you have the perspective to remember that in January 2020 things were as good in America as they've ever

been. The economy was humming. Employment was high. In fact, employment was so high. In fact, employment was so high, economists were warning it was too high. I know the

sentiment is, because I've had people say this. Why wouldn't we want

100% employment? A 100% employment is an economic problem because then how do you

have a startup? How do you how do you have a startup?

How do you expand?

Where are the workers?

Now, economists will tell you the big change is that our unemployment number now is artificially

depressed. It's higher than that number reflects because unemployment, well first of

all it's unemployment is high because people live off of unemployment.

But there are also other people who stop looking. If you stop looking for work, then you don't count as the unemployed. I talk to a lot of

business owners. It's some of the best research I do. I read a lot. I watch documentaries. I watch reports. But I talk and I get

anecdotal input from people. And what people tell me is this I don't know where employees go because employees will just

decide I'm not going to work anymore but they don't have another job that they go to. So how do they pay the bills?

They've just kind of fallen off. The concept of a work ethic. I don't know how you survive like this. I don't

know how you what do you get up for in the morning? Work gives you meaning and not just work for compensation.

That is honorable. It is dignified
