Yes, it is.

And I know you've been on a couple of times, but why don't you remind folks who you are and what you do

every day? Sure thing. I am a high school government and history teacher out in the western

part of Massachusetts. And I also work on some history primary source-based curriculum, do some

professional development for teachers about teaching, using primary sources.

And so I just absolutely am so excited for today's podcasts.

Excellent. I'm sure you are. It's going to be a great conversation. Before we jump into that,

though, we always like to start our show with talking about news that's happening out there during the

week. And so I would love for you to start and tell us what's in the news for you. What articles have

you found? Well, you know, I teach civic education. And I came across this news brief that really

kind of piqued my interest. It's on EdSource. And it was about a poll that was done in California by the

Public Policy Institute of California that said that 67% of Californians believe that preparing

engaged citizens is a high priority for public schools. And while there were some notable differences, which I'll get to in a second in terms of the

ways in which people waited that, 67% is a pretty astonishing number of people who say

that that is a huge priority.

So that kind of caught my attention, even though it's only one state, I can imagine that
