The answer is that there is currently a vacancy

for what used to be one of the most prominent positions

in British politics.

And if the Lib Dems 8% rating in the polls

is to be believed, all too few people have noticed

that there's currently a contest to fill it.

In the space of a decade, the Lib Dems

have gone from being at the heart of government

to the margins of British politics.

But they did still attract three and a half million votes

at the last election and could very easily play a vital role

in who takes power in the future.
