Well, good morning, everybody. I'm Father Chris Alar here at the National Shrine of the Divine Mercy,

and it is an honor to be with you because the next several weeks we are going to be addressing those

talks that you have requested the most that we talk about. And they are Vatican II.

Communion in the hand or not and we're going to start today with the Latin mass the extraordinary form of the Latin mass what is church teaching right now has it changed Are we allowed freely to attend this mass, which is better

than Nova Sorto or the extraordinary form? And it's not the great way, the best way to look at it.

But we're going to cover all this. And I said to the group here that there's so much good

information, I may have to split the talk.

So we're either going to go real short or a little long. So let's just see what we're going to do.

But let us begin with the prayer in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Amen. Heavenly Father, we ask that you send the Holy Spirit down upon us to open our minds and hearts to receive the

grace you wish to bestow the grace to lead us all to eternal life and through the power of the

liturgy through the sacrifice of the mass may we worship you and may we find salvation and we

ask this through Christ, our Lord.

Amen.

Name of the Father, into the Son, into the Holy Spirit.

In fact, I just had that conversation with the brother last night.

And the quiz at the table was, what's the purpose of the Mass?

And you know, it's interesting because we're all priests.

And yet we all had different answers. Salvation.

We had, you know, that's obviously, but the number one reason for the mass is to worship God.

And it follows the church, because the church, as has been all the way back to the temple of the Old Testament, has prescribed rituals.
