At the end of his earthly ministry, Jesus endured a battery of six grueling trials.

In these courtroom settings, Jesus stood before powerful leaders

who wanted to silence him once and for all.

They'd grown weary of his popularity, and they were offended by his claims.

After all Jesus called himself a king.

Today on Insight for Living Chuck Swindall invites us to reflect on the mounting

charges against Jesus and he'll challenge

us to consider the implications for today.

I'd like you to open your Bibles if you have brought a copy of the scriptures with you to

John chapter 18. I want to read a section in chapter 18 and then slip into the first six verses of

chapter 19. Let me read for you, 18 verse 28 through 38 and then 19 1 through 6.

They led Jesus therefore from Chaiaphus into the Praetorium, and it was early.

And they themselves did not enter into the Praetorium in order that they might not be defiled but might eat the Passover.

Pilot therefore went out to them and said, what accusation do you bring against this man?

They answered and said to him,

If this man were not an evil doer, we would not have delivered him up to you.

Pilot, therefore, said to them, take him yourselves and judge him according to

your law. The Jews said to him we are not permitted to put anyone to death that the

word of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spoke signifying by what kind of death he was about to die.

Pilot, therefore, entered again into the Praetorium and summoned Jesus and said to him

you are the king of the Jews? Jesus answered, are you saying this on your own initiative or did others tell you about me?
