Hello and welcome to MakeD up. Thanks for bearing with us while we were away.

We had some friends visiting and unfortunately we all got sick, which is no fun, but it was still great to spend time with our friends.

Now we're back and ready to continue Naomi's story.

Here's a little recap since it's been about a week since we did

part one. Naomi was just getting ready to close her family's little roadside cafe in New

Jersey one night when an old woman came in and asked what she could buy for three dollars.

Naomi thought the woman looked hungry and told her that the meal would be on the house,

which means free. The grateful woman gave Naomi a bag of mushrooms as a present and told her,

use them wisely and they might bring you more than you expect.

First thing that Saturday morning, Naomi decided to try making cupcakes with the mushrooms,

but her first batch exploded in the oven. Despite this complication, the exploded

cupcake had an incredible smell like warm sugar and flowers that made Naomi want to keep trying.

That afternoon, Naomi brought the mushrooms with her to the cafe, where she continued experimenting

with them while she baked pies to sell at the cafe. She tried different oven temperatures, she varied how much

of the mushrooms she used, and she changed the baking time. Each attempt ended in a mini-exposure,

though the aftermath was less destructive once she adjusted the heat. When she tasted the bits of
