That's the nothing personal word of the day for Monday, this first day of December, 2025.

Self-righteous, as in the perfect adjective to describe Lane Kiffin, the new coach in Baton Rouge for LSU.

Now before you wonder why I could make the connection between Lane Kiffin, the craziest weekend

in college coaching maybe ever, and the word self-righteous here's the definition having or

characterized by a certainty especially an unfounded one that is totally correct or morally superior.

Seems a little harsh, doesn't it?

Well, just in case you were in a food coma all weekend after Thanksgiving.

Or working out trying to figure out how you can make up for the 19,000 calories that you can

excuse yourself eating under the theory that it's a celebration involving pilgrims.

Lane Kiffin spent the weekend with his family.

He spent the weekend with Pete Carroll.

He spent the weekend with Nick Carroll. He spent the weekend with Nick Saban,

wondering, as the clash would say, should I stay or should I go to do? Now, of course, he's the

coach of Ole Miss. I'm speaking prior to his decision.

The current coach of Ole Miss, a team that is in the middle, well, it's more toward the

end of a fantastic year, a team with a chance, no, no, the certainty, no, not characterized

by certainty, an absolute certainty of being in the college football playoff.

But he was being wooed. He wanted to leave you. He had a long-term deal. But let's not worry about that.

Let's not begrudge people trying to make the most money they can. Let's not call it a mystery

when people decide between jobs and there's an opportunity to make more guaranteed money per year and more years.
