I'm on the phone with Ashfin.

And today we are discussing The Lair of the White Worm from 1988, written, directed and

produced by Ken Russell, based on the 1911 novel of the same name by Bram Stoker,

starring Amanda Donahoe, Hugh Grant,

Catherine Oxenberg, Peter Capaldi, and Sammy Davis.

In this film, strange things start to happen in a small village after a fossilized skull of some sort of giant snake monster is discovered.

If you're new to the show, we're going to talk about this movie

spoiler-free, just background info type stuff for the first 15 minutes or so. But after that,

we will play some transition music and go into spoiler mode, where we'll walk through the plot

in detail, reviewing it as we go, and then we'll rate the film zero to five. This was a request by Ed M. and Mike L.

And personally, I was just curious about it because a few months ago I read the novel by Bram Stoker,

and it lowered my opinion of Dracula, a favorite book of mine.

But I just had a curiosity about what the movie would look like because I felt like there was a good idea here and a good concept lurking.
