That was King Charles, addressing Parliament as the monarch,

the first king to do so in a state opening of Parliament

since his grandfather did it in

1951 over 70 years ago. It is a chance for the government and the prime minister, even though it is

the king's speech. It is effectively the prime minister's speech. He and his government right. It's a

chance for them to set the agenda for the coming year, a chance of which there are increasingly few to relaunch and recast Rishi Sunak's prospects.

And today we're going to tell you a little bit about what was in that speech and what we're expecting to see change in government.
