It's late at night in 1920 on the Ohio Kentucky border.

Bootlegger George Remus is tense as he sits in the passenger seat of a slow moving truck crossing a bridge over the Ohio River.

The truck is carrying thousands of dollars worth of whiskey and George knows the police are always on the lookout for illegal booze crossing state lines.

George wants to get to his destination as fast as possible, but suddenly his armed driver hits the brakes.

George snaps at him.

What the hell are you doing?

The driver nods toward the road ahead.

George looks out the windshield and sees that a large sedan has stopped in front of them.

I'll go around it.

George is driver nods, but before he can move forward, four armed men hop out of the park sedan and rush towards George's truck.

George's driver panics, opens his door and runs away, fleeing into the underbrush alongside the road.

Just as the armed men reach the truck and point a pistol in George's face, hands up and get out of the truck.

George does as he's told.

When he steps out of the vehicle, the gunman grabs him and throws him into the road.

The other men form a circle around George, as the leader cocks his weapon and takes aim.

Fearing for his life, George knows he needs to come up with a persuasive argument and fast.

And thankfully, though George may be a rum runner now, he's also been an expert lawyer.
