Tonight we have this, we have the first Republican presidential debate of the 2024 campaign

season.

In a way, it's really, this is the kickoff such as it is of the entire 2024 presidential

primary everything season since there is no real contest on the democratic side.

I guess Robert Kennedy Jr. may disagree about that if he still calls himself a Democrat

as of today and Marianne Williamson and whatever, but there's no debates.

I don't think there's going to be much of a contest on the primary side, but we do have

this, but we do have the Republican primaries, which notionally are contested and this

is going to be the first debate.

It's on Fox, but there is this oddness to it.

And before we started recording today, I mentioned this and how it has put me, I wouldn't say

off balance exactly, but there's this uncanny quality.

As I said, it is notionally contested, but really, since Donald Trump is, well, even

if Donald Trump was going to be there, in effect, this primary is not contested, because
