It's October 2006.

In northeastern Pennsylvania, a federal agent is staring at what could be a gold mine of

evidence for a looming criminal case.

Half a block away is a black Lincoln town car.

It belongs to William D'Alea, also known as Big Billy.

It's widely known that D'Alea runs the Buffalo Lino Crime Family, one of the most powerful

criminal organizations in the region.

And as a mediator between the New York and Pennsylvania Mafia, D'Alea is believed to

have an incredible breath of information about organized crime.

For decades, the government has been watching D'Alea, waiting for him to trip up.

But it wasn't until a few months ago that they finally got him on charges of money-laundering.

Since then, D'Alea has also been charged with witness tampering, and now he's being held

in jail.

D'Alea's prosecutors are hoping to get D'Alea to flip and to get his help in the larger

fight against organized crime.

But before they can get a cooperation agreement, federal prosecutors are going to have to show

D'Alea that the evidence against him is overwhelming.

And that means investigating every corner of his life to see what might be hiding.

So today, federal agents are going to search D'Alea's town car.

The lead agent on the search doesn't know if they're going to find anything worthwhile.

Mobsters generally know how to hide things.
