The chairman of Coors Brewing Company kidnapped and held for ransom, prompting one of the largest man hunts in history.

For over a hundred years, the Coors family has been making beer in their Golden Colorado Brewery. They've been very successful and grown very, very wealthy.

In 1960, the founder's grandson, Adolf Coors III, was the company chairman.

On the morning of February 9, 1960, Adolf Coors got into a station wagon and began his ride from his home to the brewery just 12 miles away.

But he never arrived. His wife said that he had left in a good mood and

had appointments at the brewery. A milkman found Coors abandoned car on the one-lane Turkey Creek

bridge with the engine running and the radio on. When investigators arrived they found a large blood stain in the dirt.

In the creek below, they found a lens from Adolf Kor's glasses and two hats, Adolf

Kor's baseball cap and a brown fedora.

The Sheriff's Department issued an all-point's bulletin for Coors, but no one reported seeing him.

The next morning, his wife received a typed letter in the mail.

It read, Mrs. Coors, your husband, has been kidnapped.

His car is by Turkey Creek. Call the FBI or police. He dies.

Cooperate. He lives. We have no desire to commit murder. All we want is that money.

The kidnappers demanded $500,000 for Adolf's safe return. They told Ms. Coors they'd tell her later
