Summary

Author and journalist Tim Alberta joins the show for a special guest episode - talking everything from his new book, "The Kingdom, The Power, and The Glory: American Evangelicals in an Age of Extremism." to the rise of the MAGA GOP and how the modern evangelical movement has evolved to grow hand in hand with it. How did Trump go from "flawed vessel" to the vanguard of the evangelical movement? And how do evangelical voters come to terms with the contradictions inherent to MAGA? Where do we go from here? Tim reflects on his personal experience and offers one solution to breaking the fever. Buy both books and check out Tim's work at https://www.bytimalberta.com/. Learn more about your ad choices. 1:24.8

I'm curious how you went from like what sounds like the best job ever to writing books on

1:29.3

maggot like we I want to know really where I went wrong by asking you this question, but like how did you get into this?

1:35.6

Yeah, man there are days where I really do envision what life might have looked like had I found my way into sports writing and you know like right now I'd be getting ready to go down to Florida to watch pictures and catchers reporting as opposed to, you know, trekking around the early primary states.

1:57.2

Although, I guess in this case, there's really not much trekking around to do because there's really not a primary on either side.

2:04.0

But yeah, you know, my only real interest in journalism from the time I was pretty young,

2:10.7

like probably middle school age, was just in reading the sports page every day growing up and just being sort of enamored with this idea of, wow, like people get paid to go to games and just tell you know tell tell their
