This young man walked up with a big old Bible under his arm.

He said, Dr. Stanley, I've been wanting to meet you.

And he said, I'm just beginning to be a pastor.

And he said, I can hear it coming.

His eyes got real big.

He said, I just want you to tell me, what would you say to a young man like me who's going to be a pastor?

And this is his first time

being a pastor, and he just went on talking about, he's just beginning, and he's so excited

about the Lord's work. He said, what would be the one thing you'd tell me? I said, I know exactly

what I want to tell you. And what I want to tell him is what I want to talk about tonight.

So I'm going to turn to Joshua, Chapter 1, because I want to tell him is what I want to talk about tonight. So I'm going to turn to Joshua, chapter one.

Because I said to him what I would say to anybody, no matter how old you are,

no matter what your occupation is, whether you're a pastor or a plumber, doesn't make any difference.

The answer is the same.

Look, if you will, in Joshua, Chapter one. And let me give you a little background

of what's happening here. Well, the best way to get background of this is just read Deuteronomy

chapter 34. So look at that, if you will. Deuteronomy chapter 34 beginning in verse 5.

Remember now Genesis Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronum, and Moses
