The holidays were usually a happy time in the Hamalca household,

but something was bothering 20-year-old Carla on the night of December 23rd,

1990. Her boyfriend, 26-year-old Paul Bernardo, was over for dinner, which was usually enough to cheer her up, but it was clear that something was on her mind.

After dinner, Carla's parents as well as her younger sister Lori all went to bed.

But Carla and Paul announced they were going to stay up and watch a movie, and they invited

Carla's other sister, 15-year-old Tammy, to join them.

Carla was sure that Tammy had a crush on Paul, and Paul made no secret of his desire for

Tammy.

He'd always liked his women young and virginal.

But he'd been going on and on about wanting Tammy for so long

that Carla was fed up.
