My guest today is Tom Bevan.

Tom is the co-founder and president of Real Clear Politics.

So nice to have you on.

Carol, it is so great to be with you.

Tom, I am a huge fan of Real Clear.

Oh, thank you.

I want to know how you got there.

What made you start it?

Tell us everything.

Well, so I'll give you the short version, since we only have 20 minutes.

Okay.

So the interesting thing about Real Clear Politics is that the co-founder, John McIntyre and myself,

we were not involved in politics or journalism professionally.

He was a traitor and I was in advertising.

But we were just political junkies.

We just love the stuff and we would watch the Sunday shows and we would listen to talk radio and read the op-ed pages and talk about them. And so in the late 90s, mid-to-late 90s, was really the first time where you could read what was being written in the New York Times and the L.A. Times on the same day.

That was kind of our aha moment. We're like, okay, why don't we create a place for people like us who are junkies about this stuff and just bring all of this information, become sort of a political clearinghouse.
