They don't all end well.

So many stories in Yahweh's sacred book just end.

No resolution, no reconciliation, no answers, just longing, longing for right to follow the wrongs.

For good to come of the evil.

For meaning to emerge from the chaos.

Maybe that longing is the point.

This is a story about deception and escalation and vengeance, about generational patterns

and irreversible wounds and irredeemable choices.

And it's a story about a God who sees every victim of injustice, a God who will make sure that things are put right.

Heaving, breathless, they pull their swords from Shuckham's gut, not breaking eye contact until he falls at their feet.

They grab their sister Dinah and pull her from the room, from this cage, and make their way out into the sunlight.

Around them slumped against walls and twisted face down in the street and bleeding out on beds inside their homes,

hundreds of men, every man in the city.

Women wail and children scream,

and the sons of Jacob nod their congratulations to one another.

Come, Dinah, time to go home.
