Welcome to our daily rosary meditation. Let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Let's call to mind all those we promise to pray for.

Now we've been meditating on the fact that the purpose of life is transforming union with Jesus

and that everyone is called the holiness to be a saint.

Now in football there are just a few basic things you have to do to win, namely blocking

and tackling, and without these you lose.

Well, what's the blocking and tackling of the spiritual life?

For there are three things.

Prayer. Second, the U. Prayer.

Second, the Eucharist in regular confession.

And third, living a well-ordered and balanced life.

So today we focus on the journey of the soul through prayer. Now

Teresa of Avla and John of the Cross are the great masters of prayer and they describe the

spiritual journey of the soul to God as the ascent of Mount Carmel.

I like this imagery because I love hiking

to the top of a mountain.

Now when my kids were younger,

we began to hike in Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado.

The first time with my kids I wanted to begin at Fern Lake Trailhead

and then go to Odessa Lake up and over to Bear Lake and then loop back to the beginning.
