Welcome into another edition of the Josh Hendrickson show. I'm Neil McCready. I'm in Dallas. Josh Hendrickson. The chair of economics at Ole Miss is in what appears to be his office there on the, on the Ole Miss campus. I think Josh is getting ready to head out of town. I'm heading back into town. We're crossing paths tomorrow, so we're taping this today.

It's not going to sound as good because we're taping via Zoom.

So the audio will be a little bit different than the audio that you're used to

when we're both in the Clark Ford Studios there in Oxford.

But you may have noticed that things have happened since the last time we recorded last Friday. We recorded on Friday afternoon. Things changed dramatically some 26, 27 hours later. So we'll talk about that in a moment. All right, Josh, I'll I'll lead with this.

I'm in downtown Dallas. I'm about a little less than half a mile from Dealey Plaza right now.

And I had a hard time sleeping last night, woke up, was thinking about different things that I had on my agenda

today, and ultimately just decided, hey, you know what, I'm going to go ahead and I'm going to

go ahead and write and get some stuff done. And then I was going to go to the gym. And the gym was

cold. And I'm like, I'm going to go outside and go for a walk first

just to kind of warm up and I ended up walking my plan wasn't to walk to Dili Plaza but it's so close

that I just sort of walked towards it and then took a right on Elm instead

of the left on Elm. But I say that to say this, I was walking down Houston Street in downtown

Dallas and directly in front of me as I was walking towards past Main Street and to Elm Street,

directly in front of me was the what used to be known as the Texas School Book Depository.

We're up on the sixth floor.

Everyone knows by now.

Lee Harvey Oswald allegedly fired the shots that killed the 35th president of the United States, John F. Kennedy on November 22nd, 1963.

And as I was walking down Houston, I was thinking about the fact that that presidential

motorcade on that day was going directly on the same path that I was on, on Houston, towards Elm,

to take a left onto Elm, to go under the Stimons, the triple overpass,

to get on the Stimons freeway to go to what was then the Texas trademark to deliver a speech.
