Let's get now to ABC News and the legal analyst Royal Oaks, who's often with us.

This particular story just disappeared in the last few weeks.

And it was the obsession of the news media and the political world.

Six months ago, U.T. Trump was dealing with 34 counts that he was convicted of in New York City

in one trial. And there were, what, three, four other federal and state trials up against him in Florida and Washington and Atlanta.

And he had that civil trial where they wanted hundreds of billions of dollars in penalties.

A lot of these trials have been in suspense for the rest of the year, have not progressed for all kinds of reasons.

But what happens if Trump wins?

What happens to all these trials?

What happens if he loses?

We're going to talk to where else.

And of course it depends, John, on whether we're talking about state cases or federal cases.

Because remember, a president has the power to

issue a pardon only is to federal charges. Now, some people say, well, you shouldn't be able

to pardon yourself, but most scholars think he probably can do it because there are exceptions

to the pardon power in the Constitution, but you can't pardon yourself isn't one of them.

So that if he wins is available to him.

But they're kind of an inside baseball angle that I haven't heard anybody else talk about, John,

and that is the issue of, well, if Trump wins, he could have his new attorney general,

just fire Jack Smith, and dismiss all of the prosecutions.

The fact is, judges don't have to dismiss cases even if the prosecutors agree
