maybe your neighborhood.

And it turns out they have a problem convincing neighborhoods to accept these people.

And we're going to talk now with Scott Shrepke from the Southern California News Group.

He did the story talking about this audit.

All right, describe the program first.

How does this thing work?

Yeah, let me, I'll explain it. So California designates those

convicted of specific sexually violent crimes, you know, significant mental health conditions,

as sexually violent predators are sometimes called SVPs. And when an SVP nears the end of their prison terms, a county superior court judge may civilly

commit them for an indefinite period to a state hospital for mental health, for

remit and participation in the conditional release program.

And then, you know, after, after that a judge couldn't order, you know, judge could order them release.

And the aim of the program is really just, according to the stage, as a safety transition,
