Rick Caruso announced yesterday he's endorsing Nathan Hockman for L.A. County DA against George Gascon.

And let's go right to Rick. He's a busy man. Thank you so much for taking time to come on with us.

Hey, it's good hearing your voice.

How you been?

I'm good and happy that you're supporting Nathan Hockman.

I think I would know the answer, but tell us how you, because I know four years ago,

you were an endorser of George Gascon and you contributed money.

And how did you travel the path to going to Nathan Hockman this time?

Well, just to clear that one up, John, I had given George, I've known George for a long time.

He was a captain of LAPD when I was a president of a police commission.

And I saw him sort of raised through the ranks. And when he first ran, I did give him a couple of bucks. And then,

um, when I saw what if its policies were, um, I quickly pivoted and leaned in heavily to,

to, uh, the existing DA Lacey at the time. So I was not supporting George.

And I did support the recall for Gascon.

Listen, I think it's really simple.

We've got to hold our elected officials accountable in this city, in this region, in this state, in this country.

We've got a guy who's the district attorney, and by every measure, he's failing.

Crime continues to go up.
