It was January 13th, 2022, when Brianna Kupfer, a 24-year-old woman from the West Side, was killed working at a furniture store in Hancock Park.

She'd taken the job after graduating UCLA, and Sean LaValle Smith was in the neighborhood.

Smith, 34 years old, insane person. In fact, the next stage in the

trial is to decide whether he should either be put in a prison or a mental institution.

There'll be a sanity phase on October the 2nd. Smith walked into the furniture store and stabbed Breonna Coupe for 46 times and recorded

audio of it, which is part of the evidence in the trial.

He was convicted of first-degree murder, special allegations of murder while lying in

weight and others, other charges.

Sean Laval Smith had a long history of crimes and just was able to wander around.

He was a transient and he was crazy.

And apparently had a deep hatred of women

and was wandering around looking for a woman to attack.

We're going to talk now with Todd Kupfer.

to talk about the trial.
