Gavin Newsom is pushing legislation to create new classes of crime to go after what he says

are professional retail thieves and people who break into cars and give the police more

power to make arrests and to try to break down these criminal gangs

that are engaging in organized crime and doing all these smash and grab robberies.

Not touching Prop 47, though.

And so we have to figure out whether this is just rhetoric,

misdirection, or this actually is got real teeth to it that's going to change the way life is

in California. Blake, how are you? Good, John. And yeah, to answer your question, I think what we're

going to have to wait for to see how much teeth are in his proposals or when these are actually made into bills what Newsom's done as he's

released a framework for what he wants among his requests are increased punishments for people stealing
