Hello.

So you know this podcast has gone through several changes of name,

which we sometimes joke about.

There was election cast, Brexit cast,

election cast, newscast,

newscast,

coronavirus newscast,

and then back to newscast.

But anyway, you knew all that already.

Anyway, one of our colleagues has actually gone through a similar process.

It is the BBC correspondent and presenter,

formerly known as Ben Bland.

Ben, you're now known as Ben Bulos.

Wow. And what brought this about? Well firstly are we relaming this edition

Bencast? Well let's see how well you do. Fair, fair. It's something I've thought about over the years quite a bit and increasingly I felt

that my surname Bland, which I've had my whole life up until now, masked a lot ofsees and the heritage from my mother's side of the family

that have really shaped who I am and the perspective I have on the world and that whole Sudanese

Egyptian coptic side of my identity was quite hidden and I thought you know I want to

celebrate it I want to highlight it which is which is in contrast to as a child you want

to downplay any kind of difference, you want to fit in.

As an adult, you increasingly become aware of how much those kind of influences enrich your life
