The actions we have taken thus far will not be our last.

The Justice Department remains committed to holding all January 6 perpetrators at any

level accountable under law, whether they were present that day or were otherwise criminally

responsible for the assault on our democracy.

We will follow the facts wherever they lead.

It was, as we journalists like to say, the money quote, an attorney general, Merrick

Garland's speech at the Justice Department Wednesday on the eve of the anniversary of

the January 6 assault on the US Capitol.

The investigation into that event is not limited to the more than 700 rioters who have already

been charged with breaching the Capitol barricades, assaulting police officers, and threatening

the lives of members of Congress and the sitting vice president of the United States.

The Justice Department, Garland, said, will seek to hold all January 6 perpetrators responsible

at any level or whether they were present that day.
