Emma Graham Harrison is a senior international correspondent with The Guardian and for her this story started with conversations in London about events that seemed unbelievable.

I was talking to colleagues who were genuinely confused

when they saw images on the news of Israeli protesters using violence to stop

aid going into Gaza.

And they were just asking me, who are these people who want to stop food going to starving children?

What could motivate someone to do that? Even in a war?
