Hello, everyone. Welcome to Dennis Notes History here. A short while ago, I said something

real stupid on Twitter. It was about Irish history. There was a massive pile on. I got cancelled.

So what I decided to do was talk to Finn Duar, who is in charge of the wonderful Irish history podcast, and we sat and we worked it out. We worked out. What is the right way to talk about the Irish War of Independence, which foolishly I described as a civil war within the United Kingdom, of which Ireland was a part. But as Finn describes to me, it was a reluctant and unequal part, and therefore the terminology of civil war within the United Kingdom, of which Ireland was a part. But as Finn describes to me,

useful in this case. This is what it's all about. Step away from social media,
