0:04.0	I used to think that I was far from God simply because of my sin, but it wasn't just because of me sending against God as much as it was the fact that I didn't have the right view of him.

0:21.7	that stuck with me. And it was the fact that you're on cycles of sin not because you don't
0:26.6	believe God is real, but because you don't believe that God is better, better than the cycles

0:41.0	because I've realized that how you see God will always determine how you interact with him. So there
0:46.5	was moments in my life where I felt that God was angry at me, that he was so disappointed that
0:51.1	he didn't want me to come back home and that he was essentially looking
0:54.1	at me just completely ashamed and had just thrown me to the side. And so since that's the way I saw
1:01.6	God, I interacted with him as such. And whoever wants to return home to someone they don't believe
1:07.4	actually wants them there. And I didn't believe that God wanted me back home,
1:11.4	and so I kept my distance away from him. And what I slowly started to realize was it wasn't just my
1:17.5	sin keeping me away from God, but my sin actually distorted my view of him that pushed me further away.
1:25.1	So I didn't see him as merciful, gracious, slow to anger,
1:29.8	abounding and steadfast love and faithfulness, which are all characteristics of him and who he is,
1:35.2	that was so far from what I thought in my mind at the time. And there's a verse that I found that I've
1:42.0	really been sent with, and it's Hebrews 1214,
1:44.4	and it says, without holiness, no man can see the Lord, which means that sin distorts our view of God.
1:54.0	And so sin clouds our vision of God, but holiness is what actually clears it so we can see him for who he actually is.
