Hey, welcome to Stuff to Blow Your Mind. My name is Robert Lam.

And I'm Jim McCormick and we're back with part two of our series on the invention of the

chain saw. And now last time I think we left off after we'd been talking about the reasoning behind

chains as a as a cutting surface rather than just a solid blade or even as opposed to a giant

circular saws. But this time we wanted to come back and talk a little bit more about the early

history of power saws leading up to the modern chain saw as well as some rather, uh,

rather distressing medical digressions.

Well, before we get into the medical stuff, I want to come back to something I mentioned

in passing in the last episode. I mentioned how I had I was vaguely familiar with stuff like the
