Let's talk a little major league baseball because we are headed six months from now or so to what everybody believes could be a very

ugly time period for baseball.

Because the collective bargaining agreement expires and if they cannot come to an agreement

with the Major League Baseball Players Association and the owners, then when that current CBA

expires December 1st of this year, the owners will lock out the players until a new deal is in

place.

So the first stages of the negotiation have happened.

The first one was on Wednesday when the union, the players union, sent their proposal to the league, which includes higher CBT thresholds for competitive balance tax,

as well as a higher minimum salary.

And not only a higher minimum salary, the current minimum salary is 750.

They want it at $1.5 million, so completely doubling that.

And a tax on teams that they want a salary floor of $150 million.

So those are kind of the basics that the players throughout, the owners, and this is where

this is going to get ugly, the owners won a hard salary cap.

And yesterday, in their proposal to the union, they proposed their first firm cap

since the last time they proposed one in 1994.

And for those of you who might not have been alive or don't remember, in 1994 when that happened,
